No Groove

Spirit Groove was delayed for the month of July and has not been schedule for a definite future date at this point. We have decided to postpone the event to reevaluate our primary purpose, which is "To reach the unreached and to help the reached find their groove." After evaluating our past two or three events, we have concluded that our demographic make-up is primarily 20-35 years of age, single, Christians. We seemed to have morphed from our original mission to an entertainment/social venue for young Christians.

This is not necessarily bad in and of itself many of you have expressed how having a venue like Spirit Groove has ministered to you. Several people have come to know the Lord and overall Spirit Groove is a wonderfully unique move of God. But, we must be obedient to what God has called us to do, and if we are continue we all must embrace the mission that God has called us to. The social and fellowship aspects of the Groove are simply spillover benefits of what God is doing.

As we reshape and recast the vision of Spirit Groove, we need your support, input and feedback. Hear are some things to consider.

  1. We are in search of a facility/venue that will better serve that participants and atmosphere of Groove. We desire to stay in the downtown/Deep Ellum vicinity. Since currently there is no revenue for Spirit Groove we need to be a creative as possible.
  2. We are in serious debate whether to have a cover charge for Groove. Those Christians who are being blessed must help us underwrite the expenses of Groove.
  3. We are looking into the logistics/format of Groove. We want the events to be socially inviting, but at the same time there are times when respect through quietness is expected (i.e. when the Spoken Word is given). There will some be measures put in place to initiate this. We also will focus more heavily on allowing people to respond to the Word and have opportunities for feed back and discussion in small groups.
  4. We would like to know if you consider Spirit Groove to be just a place to go once a month and hang out, or is it a place to worship God, grow spiritually, and serve to carry the mandate of reaching the world for Christ.
  5. We are seeking to know if Spirit Groove is really affecting people. Not just going out and having a good time, but are lives being changed? Are people growing spiritually? Is the event itself ministering to people?

We've said multiple times that the vision for Spirit Groove is to expand to every Sunday, and potentially to other cities, but before we can do that we have to take care of making sure that we are on point for the vision and blueprint that God has given us. As we do that, God will make provision for the vision.

Send your responses to info@spiritgroove.com. We appreciate all the support and prayers in our continuing efforts to assist you in "getting in yo groove."
