Getting Your Groove Back
Have you ever been in a situation where things were really going right? God was blessing, you were operating in his will and perhaps were even prosperous. There always seems to be a side of us that is dissatisfied no matter how well things are going. Many people have told me that the discontent and dissatisfaction that they feel leads them to question whether they are really operating in God's will and if the grass is somehow greener somewhere else, or even if what God was doing in their life is ultimate or in their best interest.
Stella had the same problem in the movie How Stella Got Her Groove Back. Stella had all of the material things she could possibly want yet she felt a sense of discontent as if something was missing. Stella and her best Delilah "Whoopi" go on a trip to Jamaica for some fun, sun, and perhaps a quick fling. She was looking for something that was missing that she called the groove. If you saw the movie, you know that she got something in Jamaica, but it was not her Spirit Groove.
In Luke 15, the prodigal son had the same problem: he had everything he needed at his father's house, under his father's authority but it still was not enough. His discontent and dissatisfaction caused him to do the wrong thing and end up losing his groove in a pigpen in a far away country. Many of us have deliberately questioned God's will and purpose for our life and in our search, deliberately gone against the principles of God in our search to discover God. Look what the son did:
- He spoke out against his father.
- He sold out his inheritance.
- He walked out into a far away country.
- He got smoked out with wild living.
- His resources ran out.
- He got turned out by a foreigner in a pigpen.
Moving away from God always leaves to destruction. The good news is that you can always find your way back home. In the midst of a sick situation, the son came to himself. Then:
- He thought back.
- He turned back.
- He walked back.
- He was taken back.
- He got his groove back.
If you have lost your groove, God want you to have it back. We will tell you at Super Groove just how you can get it back and never lose it again. If you have questions in the meantime ask the BIBLE ANSWER MAN.
