What is Spirit Groove?

Spirit Groove is really just what it sounds like. It is when the Spirit and the Groove get together. When we say Spirit we mean the Holy Spirit as predicted in the prophecy of Joel 2:28-32 and fulfilled in Acts 2:1-41 and throughout the New Testament. For more information about Spirit Groove, visit the About page.

When is Spirit Groove held?

For now, Spirit Groove is held every fourth Sunday of the month in the Deep Ellum district near downtown Dallas. Because of popular demand, Spirit Groove in the near future will be expanding to two Sundays a month.

How was Spirit Groove started?

Spirit Groove was a vision that God gave to McKinley "Mak" Hailey over seven years ago. A former youth pastor who had become uninterested with normal Sunday morning service, he decided to provide a venue where anyone, especially Gen-Xers, could come and be in the worship of God. In November 2000, the first Spirit Groove was held and there has been no turning back since.

How is Spirit Groove put on?

Spirit Groove was originally put on by seven or eight "souled-out" Christians who really believed in the vision. More have joined the "Groove Crew" since its kick-off, donating time and expertise in their chosen area.

How is Spirit Groove paid for?

Spirit Groove is solely supported through the donations of a few committed people. Giving has been opened to the public during Spirit Groove events and at Aftergroove. It is in no way a requirement, and will not be in the future.

How can I support Spirit Groove?

Support for Spirit Groove can be donated in various ways. One way to help is through working with the "Groove Crew" to prepare and put on Spirit Groove events. Another way of supporting is through giving. Giving is a way of serving in the body of Christ. More Information About How to Get Involved...

Are there any follow-up events to Spirit Groove?

Spirit Groove's sole purpose is to allow people have a personal relationship with Christ and to help them to find their groove in the body of Christ. In response to Spirit Groove, Aftergroove was started. Aftergroove is an interactive Bible study that challenges individuals to not only be hearers of the Word, but also doers of the Word. Aftergroove is held weekly at the Tom Landry Center. More Information About AFTERgroove...
